Scouring over satellite images and maps of the San Andreas fault line, it didn't take too long to register that the fault line intersected longitude W 123 degrees at around N 38 degrees. This prompted me to dig out Garmin Worldmap GPS and start fiddling away. Superimposing a map of the fault line ontop of the the screenshot image from Garmin below details the first revelation.

Starting in San Diego take a North heading and set your bearing to 321 degrees...
Plotting a straight line at this bearing takes us through 3 large cities:
• Los Angeles
• San Jose
• San Fransisco
Continue until we cross W 123 and we end up with a reference point of
W 123 N 38 19.0
38 is 19 x 2...
Our plotted line runs parallel to the fault line for around 60% of it's distance...
Significant? But wait theres more...

Starting in San Diego take an Easterly heading and set your bearing to 312 degrees...
Plotting a straight line at this bearing takes us right through the epicentre of the recent undersea quake off the coast of Indonesia
The estimated distance between San Diego and and the undersea quake's epicentre is 14,775 Km, which in relation to the circumference of the earth (40,076Km), works out to a radial angle of 132 and a bit degrees apart.
