| Interesting pattern unfolding here. The recent quakes listed below are happening with alarming frequency on the North, West, and Southern sides of the Pacific Plate. Two possible theories begin to emerge: |

Combined compressive forces from N,W & S result in a Easterly movement of the Pacific plate. This is likely to generate a "fold" in the San Andreas fault.

Combined tensile forces form N,W & S result in a Westerly movement of the Pacific plate. This is likely to generate a "tear" in the San Andreas fault.
This Animated Seismic event map shows activity around the San Andreas fault line in the last 7 days. Small quakes - nothing to write home about - but look at the frequency...
Andromeda: "The entire plate is shifting. I was wrong. The Indian plate was subducted, the South East Asian plate pushed up. Which could mean a tear at San Andreas, and a drop. If it does happen, it may be very ugly."

Sharing of Information is Critical - WAKE UP USGS!!! |
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) have failed to report on over 300 4+ quakes off the coast of Ecuador in the last 12 days. Why are they hiding this information???

02-02-2005 : Busy creating a database to try an simplify the task of updating the table below. In the mean time please view http://wwwneic.cr.usgs.gov/neis/bulletin/ for "up to date" quake info. Also planning to include local info from the California...
05-02-2005 : Database uploaded with data on 5044 quakes since 6th Jan 2005.
08-02-2005 : Feeling like a right idiot!!! The original 5044 quakes quoted above includes duplicate entries from different seismic networks. I've weeded out the duplicates and it now stands at a more modest 2068. I should have noticed this beforehand! Somebody spank me...

| 06-02-2005 : I wrote a density plotting application to create a picture of whats happening inside the quake database (red dots), and then superimposed the locations of "active" volcanoes (green dots - code yellow/orange) ontop of the density map. Some really interesting patterns emerge... |
